Reducing the amount of iridium in oxygen evolution electrocatalysts without compromising their catalytic performances is one of the major requirements in proton-exchange-membrane water electrolyzers. Herein, with the help of theoretical studies, we show that anatase-type TiO2-IrO2 solid solutions possess more active iridium catalytic sites for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) than IrO2, the benchmark OER catalyst. Note that the same is not observed for their rutile-type counterparts. However, owing to their thermodynamic metastability, anatase-type TiO2-IrO2 solid solutions are generally hard to synthesize. Our theoretical studies demonstrate that such catalytically active anatase-type solid-solution phases can be created in situ on the surfaces of readily available SrTiO3-SrIrO3 solid solutions during electrocatalysis in acidic solution as the solution can etch away Sr atoms. We experimentally show this with porous SrTiO3-SrIrO3 solid-solution nanotubes synthesized by a facile synthetic route that contain 56 % less iridium than IrO2 yet show an order of magnitude higher apparent catalytic activity for OER in acidic solution.  相似文献

Catalytically active MnOx species have been reported to form in situ from various Mn‐complexes during electrocatalytic and solution‐based water oxidation when employing cerium(IV) ammonium ammonium nitrate (CAN) oxidant as a sacrificial reagent. The full structural characterization of these oxides may be complicated by the presence of support material and lack of a pure bulk phase. For the first time, we show that highly active MnOx catalysts form without supports in situ under photocatalytic conditions. Our most active 4MnOx catalyst (~0.84 mmol O2 mol Mn?1 s?1) forms from a Mn4O4 bearing a metal–organic framework. 4MnOx is characterized by pair distribution function analysis (PDF), Raman spectroscopy, and HR‐TEM as a disordered, layered Mn‐oxide with high surface area (216 m2g?1) and small regions of crystallinity and layer flexibility. In contrast, the SMnOx formed from Mn2+ salt gives an amorphous species of lower surface area (80 m2g?1) and lower activity (~0.15 mmol O2 mol Mn?1 s?1). We compare these catalysts to crystalline hexagonal birnessite, which activates under the same conditions. Full deconvolution of the XPS Mn2p3/2 core levels detects enriched Mn3+ and Mn2+ content on the surfaces, which indicates possible disproportionation/comproportionation surface equilibria.  相似文献

We present the results of a quasi-experimental study of pre-service elementary teachers' learning to recognize students' mathematical reasoning from classroom videos. Researchers examined the nature of participants’ beliefs regarding mathematics education. We found that pre-service elementary teachers whose beliefs were consistent with NCTM Process Standards (NCTM, 2000), or that transitioned in the direction of consistency with the Standards, regarding the teaching and learning of mathematics, were more successful in recognizing students' reasoning than those whose beliefs were generally inconsistent. Predictive Analytics and Generalized Linear Regression modeling were used to quantify the magnitude of experimental pre-service teachers’ reasoning growth and combined pre/post study assessment reasoning success in contrast to that of the comparison groups. The resulting model explained nearly 90% of the variability in success on the reasoning assessment, showing that beliefs do indeed matter for recognition of reasoning.  相似文献

A two-color digital particle image velocimetry and accelerometry (DPIV and DPIA) measurement technique is described that records the velocity and acceleration fields of both the solid and liquid phases simultaneously. Measurements were taken at turbulent conditions of a vertical pipe flow using glass spheres as the solid phase and fluorescent particles to indicate fluid phase motion. Nd-YAG pulse lasers acted as illumination sources and images were recorded by two monochrome CCD cameras. The two-color aspect of the technique was realized by placing optical filters in front of the cameras to discriminate between the phases. Cross-correlations and auto-correlations were applied to determine velocity and acceleration fields of the two phases. Results showing some of the capabilities of the technique as applied to a two-phase pipe flow experiment are provided. For the condition studied, it was found that there was turbulence suppression due to the solid phase and that the statistics associated with the acceleration probability distribution were different for the solid and fluid phases.  相似文献

This paper presents temperature measurements in turbulent dilute and dense spray flames using single-laser-shot chirped-probe-pulse femtosecond coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CPP-fs-CARS). This ultrafast technique, with a repetition rate of 5 kHz, is applied to the piloted Sydney Needle Spray Burner (SYNSBURNTM). The burner system features air-blast atomization of liquid injected from a needle that can be translated within a co-flowing air stream. The pilot-stabilized spray flames can range between the two extremes of dense and dilute by physically translating the needle tip relative to the burner's exit plane. The CPP-fs-CARS set-up has achieved integration times of 3 picoseconds (ps) as well as spatial resolution of approximately 800 µm along beam propagation and 60 µm in the transverse dimension. Brief details of the technique, calibration, correction of interferences, and spectral fitting processes are presented along with estimates of the associated error. The measurements are compared against well-established, line Raman–Rayleigh data for temperature collected in a turbulent CH4/air jet diffusion flame, which is largely non-sooting. At peak gaseous flame temperatures of up to 2512 K, the relative accuracy and precision were 2.8% and ±3.4%, respectively. Measurements in turbulent spray flames are shown after applying the relevant corrections based on non-resonant background (NRB) behavior and camera saturation effects on the shape of the CARS signal spectrum. Preliminary mapping of the temperature fields demonstrates the wealth of information available in this dataset which will provide insights into the spatio-temporal structure of spray flames once relevant statistical analysis is applied.  相似文献
